West Sabine Hut,
Nelson Lakes National Park
West Sabine Hut is a sizeable 30-bunk hut just above the Sabine River in Nelson Lakes National Park. It consists of one large room with bunks, a wood burner and a kitchen area with sinks. There’s also a decent-sized porch for wet gear and boots, an outdoor sink and long drops. It’s a damp spot, and the weather was pretty soggy when we stayed. Even with the fire going all afternoon and evening, our stuff was still wet the next day. This is a great hut to stay at if you’re going to Blue Lake.
Staying at West Sabine Hut will cost $25, and you’ll need to purchase a serviced hut ticket before you go.
