Travel Obscure

ABOUT ME

Welcome to my travel blog. I’m Chris Shorrock, and I started this blog to share my travel experiences in some of the world’s more unusual and unknown corners.
You won’t find fancy hotel reviews or five-star restaurant write-ups. What you will find is community-run tourism projects, overland travel and remote homestays in developing countries—hence the name, Travel Obscure.

My independent travel journey started with a sponsored hitchhike from Liverpool, in the UK, to Morocco in my early twenties. Since then, I’ve travelled the length of Africa on public transport, driven from the UK to Mongolia, and back, and spent four months island-hopping through the Pacific, as well as myriad smaller trips across five continents.

About me Travel Obscure

My travels and the posts on Travel Obscure focus on outdoor adventure, overland travel, and nature experiences, as well as local culture, particularly in less-explored corners of the globe.
So take a look! I love to share where I’ve been and how I got there. I aim to be practical and accessible; let me know if you have any questions or thoughts. And most importantly, enjoy!
